How it works

  1. 1. Open your insights

Find the post’s likes, comments, shares and saves, and either your follower count or the post’s reach.

  2. 2. Type the numbers

Fill in what you have. Leave a field empty if you do not track it — it counts as zero.

  3. 3. Read the rate

The rate updates as you type, with the formula written out so you can check it or repeat it in a spreadsheet.

What engagement rate measures

Engagement rate is the share of people who interacted with a post. The common version divides the interactions on a post (likes, comments, and shares or saves if you count them) by the account’s followers and multiplies by 100. Some teams divide by the post’s reach instead, which tells you how the people who actually saw the post responded.

Both are useful, but they answer different questions, so compare like with like: the same formula, on the same platform, over a similar set of posts. To see an account’s overall rate, calculate it for several recent posts and take the average.

There is no single “good” engagement rate. It varies by platform, niche, account size and format, so the most honest benchmark is your own history: track the rate per post and watch which topics, formats and posting times move it.

Questions about the Engagement Rate Calculator

By followers: (likes + comments + shares) ÷ followers × 100. By reach: the same interactions ÷ the post’s reach × 100. The calculator shows both when you give it both numbers.

If your platform shows them, yes — they are strong signs of interest. Just keep the choice the same every time you compare posts.

Yes. The formula is the same everywhere: use the platform’s own counts for interactions, and followers, subscribers or reach as the base.
